Gerald,
Want to read another?
Dr. Wheeler,
I called you last summer about a defective cd in the Code Quick program.
You replaced it and asked me to let you know when (or if) I passed element 1.
I passed it Saturday night and also element 3 so I am a bonifide general class
amateur operator. I first tried to learn Morse Code in 1942 in ROTC in
college and the Signal Corps sergeant told me that in his opinion I could never
learn to receive Morse Code. I have been around hams for all of those
years and encouraged my sons to get involved. I have had several hf
receivers but never was allowed to talk until the no-code technician became
available. I am not a fan of vhf or uhf but that was all I had until now.
I would probably never have passed the code without Code Quick. The
sound-alike system was my way out and I thank you for it. The VE took my
test sheet back to the examiners table and came back smiling. I had
actually copied about 2 minutes of perfect copy so I did not have to take the
written exam on code. I must confess something to you! We may have
cheated on the test. My wife and 3 Extra Class sons were all praying for me
during the test.
Thanks again for Code Quick. Now old dad is going after element 4 so I can
join the boys on the less busy frequencies. I made 91 on element 3 with
very little study because of my background and fields of study.

Here's Another One:
Jerry,
I just wanted to sit down and write a quick note to thank you for your program. I have been "learning" code for close to a year now, and I was never able to get more than 4 or 5 letters. I used the Koch method with a code tutor and the ARRL tapes and neither really seemed to help me learn the letters. I quickly became frustrated, but I wanted to become an Extra, so I kept forcing and really finding excuses not to practice.
Your course was fun, entertaining, and my wife was having me sized up for a "white tuxedo" near the end as I was walking around doing "A light is lit" and turning on and off the lights (my 2 year old daughter was following behind giggling the whole time).
It took a little more than a month, but that was the pace I set for myself. Saturday I took the code test for real and passed on the first shot (I had taken it the month before for practice and got the questions I answered right, and that was with only 18 letters!). I am now an Extra (well /AE until later this month when the database updates).
Thank you for all your help.
